The Rochester Knighthawks have announced that the team has re-signed unrestricted free agent defenseman Scott Campbell to a two-year contract agreement starting with the upcoming 2015 National Lacrosse League season.

"It feels good," Campbell said. "There is no place I would rather be than in Rochester trying to continue the success we have had the past few seasons."

Campbell, who enters his 11th season in the NLL, has won three straight Champion's Cups with the Knighthawks. In 2014, Campbell played in 17 games, notching two goals, five assists and 54 loose balls. He led the team with 24 forced turnovers, as well. Campbell showed his versatility by also playing transition and offense.

"'Soupy' is that guy who performs well anywhere on the floor for us. He plays hard D, transitions the ball for us very confidently, and is able to stay and play. Everyone has full confidence in his ability," said Knighthawks head coach Mike Hasen. "He is a great team guy who keeps our locker room loose, but knows full well when it’s time to perform. We count on him greatly."

Campbell has spent four seasons in Rochester after signing with the Knighthawks during the 2011 season. The 32-year-old has collected 29 goals and 35 assists, and scooped up 545 loose balls in 132 NLL games.

Before coming to Rochester, the Markham, Ontario native spent time around the league including five seasons with the Toronto Rock (2006-2010). He began his career in 2005 with the Minnesota Swarm. Campbell has also played internationally, suiting up for Scotland in the 2007 World Indoor Lacrosse Championships. He played his college lacrosse at nearby Elmira College.

"Soupy is an all-around player: Fast, strong and smart," said Knighthawks assistant captain Mike Kirk. "He's strong on the defensive end, but has the ability to score at the other (end). He can help out the team anywhere the coaches need him."
