With less than five weeks until opening night of the regular season, training camps are opening, and some teams are already holding scrimmages against other clubs. Rochester and Edmonton faced off on Saturday, while camps in Philly, Washington & Calgary are now open.
The Calgary Roughnecks have traded defenseman Paul Dawson to the Philadelphia Wings in exchange for a conditional second round selection in the 2011 Entry Draft. Dawson played for Boston last season, but was dealt to Calgary in July after signing a restricted free agent offer sheet with Toronto. It's been an eventful off-season for Dawson, who emerged to become one of the league's top defenseman last season. In 2010, Dawson scooped up 75 loose balls and tallied six points, plus 65 penalty minutes. He also engaged in a couple of fights that became must-see videos on television and the internet.
