Colorado Mammoth Appoints New General Manager

The Colorado Mammoth announced on Thursday that Dan Carey has been appointed the second General Manager in team history. The 35-year-old was promoted from his role as the team’s director of player personnel, a position he assumed in October, 2015.

“With every promotion comes new challenges and opportunities and we believe Dan is the right man for the job,” said Matt Hutchings, Executive Vice President and COO for Kroenke Sports. “Dan has great history with the team as a player and his knowledge of the game is first-rate; we are confident this will translate to successful leadership, in the front office and on the field.”

Previously Carey served as the team’s Eastern scout. Carey replaces Steve Govett, who was the team’s president, general manager and governor since the team relocated to Colorado in 2002.

“I have big shoes to fill,” said Carey. “Steve did an incredible job with this team and this organization. I’m humbled and grateful to Mr.Kroenke and the Kroenke family to have the opportunity to turn a great roster into a championship-caliber team.”

Carey was drafted by Govett in the first round of the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. He was a three-time all-star with the Mammoth before injuries cut short his playing career.

A former left-handed forward, Carey was instrumental in building the team’s current roster. Colorado appeared in the West Division Finals in 2017.
