Getting to Know…Cole Shafer

The 2017 National Lacrosse League Entry Draft will be held Monday, September 18 at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre in Oakville, Ontario. NLL.com correspondent Stephen Stamp introduces you to some of the players expected to be chosen near the top of the draft in this series, Getting to Know a Prospect.

Getting to Know…Cole Shafer

Cole Shafer was a good junior player with the Coquitlam Adanacs. Then he exploded in his final season as a junior, 2015, with 45 goals and 98 points.

That fall, he showed he could play against men just as effectively when he represented England at the World Indoor Lacrosse Championships on the Onondaga Nation. Shafer led the English side with 15 goals and 19 assists for 34 points, almost twice as many as any other player on the team in the six games they played.

Shafer put up 34 points again this summer as a member of the Langley Thunder. He may not be the biggest player on the floor, but Shafer has proved that he doesn’t let his size keep him down. He’ll be looking for a chance to show he can produce at yet another level when the NLL draft rolls around this September.
