Mammoth Hoping Third Time Is The Charm

The Mammoth (5-4) hope the third time’s a charm as they take on their rival Calgary Roughnecks (3-5) Friday night at home. The teams have gone head-to-head twice already in 2017, once in Denver and once in Calgary. The Roughnecks came out on top both times. Colorado’s last chance for regular season revenge is set for 7:30 PM MST (9:30 EST) from Pepsi Center.

The Mammoth wrapped up a three week road trip Sunday morning with a win over the New England Black Wolves. It was their second victorious match-up against the Black Wolves this season. New England got more shots in than Colorado, but Mammoth goaltender, Dillon Ward, was hardly letting anything by. He tallied 46 saves of 55 shots on goal.

In the most recent Mammoth / Roughnecks battle in Calgary, Forwards Zach Greer and Jeremy Noble led Colorado in goals scored with 3 apiece. Calgary Forward Tyler Digby led both teams in scoring with a grand total of 5 goals on the night. Roughnecks goaltender, Frank Scigliano, helped seal the deal on the back-to-back win over Colorado with 33 saves of 45 shots on goal.

Calgary is rolling off of a loss from last week.  Roughneck Young Gun, Wesley Berg, was responsible for almost half of the team’s final score with 4 goals. Just one game before (week 7), Berg found the back of the net 3 times against the Vancouver Stealth. Even though Calgary is fighting through a losing streak, Colorado’s defense will have their hands full with offensive talents Berg, Digby and the team’s leading goal-scorer, Curtis Dickson.

Mammoth Nation may be seeing red as their home team seeks retribution against the Roughnecks, but fans will be seeing a whole lot of blue and yellow as well. March 3rd is 303 night at Pepsi center. The Mammoth will be wearing specialty uniforms decked out in a Colorado flag theme. The players’ game-worn items will be up for bid from 6:30 PM until the end of halftime.

Tickets can be purchased by visiting coloradomammoth.com or by calling (303) 405-1101.
