Where Your Favorite NLL Stars are Playing in the Major Series this Summer

Are you an insatiable box lacrosse fan who just can’t wait until the ‘25-26 season to see your favorite players back in action? Well, while you’re moping about, the best-of-the-best are duking it out in Major Series Lacrosse – where the deck is reshuffled and the teams are dispersed for some no-holds-barred, rough ‘n’ tough summer ball! Here’s where all your favorite NLL stars are playing!

Buffalo Bandits

Despite still being in the throes of their Championship press tour, several members of the newly crowned Bandits dynasty are already back on the horse. The undisputed stars of the League, forwards Josh Byrne and Dhane Smith, as well as transition star Ian MacKay, are once again suiting up for the currently 5-1 Six Nations Chiefs alongside teammates Justin Martin and Steve Priolo. In his three games played so far, Byrne has already tallied 11 points (four goals, seven assists), with Smith right behind him with nine points, all assists.

Breaking the mold with their presence on opposing teams, however, are goalie Steve Orleman and defender Taylor Dooley, gearing up for the 4-2 Brooklin Lacrosse Club and the 2-4 Cobourg Kodiaks, respectively. In just four games, Orleman has already made 185 saves (7.50 GAA, 0.838 SV%), keeping Brooklin squarely inside the upper echelon of the seven-squad MSL rankings.

Saskatchewan Rush

Though making scarce appearances in the off-season, the NLL’s runners-up are still very much ingrained in the summer competition. Rush forward Brock Haley has already put up 12 points (six goals, six assists) for the Kodiaks in his three games played so far. Across the line from Haley sits teammate Ryan Barnable, holding down the defensive line for Brooklin LC.

Halifax Thunderbirds

There’s not a team in the NLL that looks forward to the summer season more than the Thunderbirds! Of the 15 Halifax players suiting up in the MSL this year, a third of them are allocated to the 5-1 Peterborough Lakers, including but not limited to goalkeeper Drew Hutchison, face-off specialist Jake Withers, and forwards Thomas Hoggarth and Mike Robinson, who is currently one of three Lakers leading the MSL in points (17 points, seven goals, 10 assists).

For fans of the flashier members of the Halifax roster, the Six Nations Chiefs currently hold six Thunderbirds. On the defensive end, that’s goalkeeper Warren Hill, defender Nonkon Thompson, and resident bad boy Tyson Bell. On the offensive line, racking points alongside Buffalo’s Byrne and Smith, are forwards Randy Staats, recent inductee to the NLL’s 1,000-Point Club, Cody Jamieson and Dawson Theede, who currently sits just below Robinson for points in the league so far (16 points, five goals, 11 assists).

But no team is complete without its oddballs! Of the 15 Thunderbirds currently participating in the MSL, only four players find themselves sequestered from their regular season teammates. Transition Mitch Wilde and defender Austin Blumbergs are currently holding down the middle of the pack as members of the 2-3 Owen Sound North Stars, amassing a combined 17 points so far this summer. While Wilde and Blumbergs are able to continue a working relationship in the off-season, transition Luke Keenan and defender Curtis Romanchych stand alone as the sole Halifax representatives in Brooklin and Cobourg, respectively.

Vancouver Warriors

As the lone delegate of the Vancouver Warriors, rookie goalkeeper Connor O’Toole has much to live up to during his summer with the Brampton Excelsiors. In his two games in cage so far this season, O’Toole has allowed 13 goals over the course of 72 minutes played. Though not off to an eye-catching start, his previous Minto Cup experience and acclaimed Junior career with the Orangeville Northmen make him a budding prospect in the MSL this year. Additionally, O’Toole also has the opportunity to grow underneath the watchful eye of experienced Rochester goaltender Riley Hutchcraft, also in his first year with Brampton after being moved from Brooklin LC.

Rochester Knighthawks

Also representing the Knighthawks in Brampton alongside Hutchcraft, who is currently sitting atop the MSL with a staggering 274 saves, is transition defender Josh Medeiros, the Knighthawk acquired in the Panther City Dispersal Draft. Medeiros has already amassed nine points and a hat trick on the Brampton defensive line and shows no signs of slowing.

The Six Nations Chiefs, to no one’s surprise, also have a few key pieces of the Rochester machine in their arsenal as well. On the back end alongside Halifax’s Warren Hill, defender Tyler Biles currently sits comfortably in the Top 5 defenders in the MSL for most penalty minutes (16 PIM). Offensive standout Ryan Smith is also suiting up in Chiefs gear this summer as another name on the long list of Six Nations goal-scoring stars, and he leads the league with 13 goals scored.

Calgary Roughnecks

Though the Roughnecks are entering the MSL with relatively little representation, theoretical presence is most certainly felt. In a near mirror-image trade to the League shattering exchange with the Toronto Rock, the Peterborough Lakers received goalkeeper Nick Rose from the Oakville Rock this spring. Rose currently boasts a hearty 131 denials in his first season as a Laker, sitting snugly among the top five tendies in the league behind the Chiefs’ Doug Jamieson.

Rose also had to leave behind defender Tyler Hendrycks in his trade to Oakville. Hendrycks, another major offering in Toronto’s trade to the Roughnecks during the NLL season, now finds himself on his own in Oakville after following Rose to Alberta. The Oakville defender, in Rose’s absence, has already found himself two goals over the course of his four games played in the 2025 season.

Georgia Swarm

Only adding to the sheer might and roster disparity in the MSL, joining the Six Nations Chiefs once again is Swarm forward and lacrosse star Lyle Thompson, currently climbing the point ladder with his 12 points (five goals, seven assists). Thompson is joined on the Chiefs by fellow Georgia forwards Brendan Bomberry and Shayne Jackson.

Across the bench, however, sits rookie Georgia defender Jacob Hickey, making his return to Brooklin LC with a quick seven points in six games. But the web of intrasquad rivalries only thickens for the Swarm, as transition players Liam McGrath and Seth Van Schepen line up to compete against their NLL teammates with Owen Sound and Brampton.

San Diego Seals

San Diego forward Dylan Watson is suiting up for the Owen Sound North Stars as the Seals’ lone representative in the MSL this summer. After a brief back-and-forth between the Active Roster and the Injured Reserve since his acquisition from the Las Vegas Desert Dogs during the NLL regular season, Watson is already making an impact as a North Star. In just four games played in the early weeks of the season, Watson has already tallied an evenly-split 10 points on the Owen Sound offensive end. Though he hasn’t suited up yet, Kellen LeClair could see time with Six Nations this summer.

Ottawa Black Bears

After a postseason near-miss in their inaugural season, the Ottawa Black Bears are eager to use their offseason as wisely as possible, stacking up against their peers and adversaries wherever possible. Black Bears forwards Taggart Clark and Connor Kearnan are dressing out for Brooklin LC alongside several of their Canadian rivals (i.e., Saskatchewan’s Ryan Baranable, Toronto’s Chris Boushy), but not without their fair share of hometown competition.

They’ll run into some familiar faces on the Peterborough and Six Nations rosters, as Ottawa rookie Dustyn Birkhof dons his new Lakers uniform after being acquired last week, and Larson Sundown eases into his fourth season with the Chiefs.

Colorado Mammoth

The Colorado Mammoth, though sparingly represented in the MSL this summer, is by no means lacking in defensive firepower. Mammoth captain Robert Hope is once again getting into gear for his 12th season with the Peterborough Lakers, where he is also team captain. For the Chiefs, Colorado defender Tim Edwards is holding down the back end, West Coast style, already handing out assists in just a few short games.

Albany FireWolves

The young upstarts on the FireWolves roster find themselves working in a buddy-system lacrosse in the MSL, with only two of the six FireWolves present in the league wandering off on their own. Arena Lacrosse League success story Mike Byrne and defender Nick Chaykowsky are traveling together this summer with Brooklin, while Blake McDonald and goaltender Doug Jamieson suit up for the Six Nations Chiefs across the bench.

While those four are sharing hotel rooms during away games, Albany-returnee Carson Moyer will be sharing a bus with the enemy as a member of the Oakville Rock. Similarly, sophomore goaltender Andrew Kidd sticks out as the line Firewolf between the pipes for the Owen Sound North Stars.

Philadelphia Wings

The Philly presence is clearly felt in the MSL this season, and especially so in Peterborough. After a record-breaking regular season in the NLL, Joe Resetarits was renewed for another season with the Lakers and has already anchored seven points (three goals, four assists) in his two games played thus far. Joining him in Peterborough are fellow Wings defenders Alex Pace and Jordan Stouros.

In Oakville, Ontario, forward Sam LeClair and defender Mike McCannell find themselves tag-teaming against the Peterborough faction of the Wings roster, but also the isolated Philadelphian Brampton in the form of defender Liam Patten.

Toronto Rock

The Rock have made a name for themselves as the leading defensive exporter in the MSL, with five of their seven representatives in the series this year belonging to the back end. Goalkeeper Troy Holowchuck and defender Phil Mazzuca are both holding down the defensive line in their second year with the Oakville Rock, while defenders Latrell Harris and Brad Kri maintain the aggression of the Six Nations’ defense.

Toronto’s offensive presence in the MSL manifests itself in the forms of Brooklin’s Chris Boushy and Oakville’s Josh Dawick. Boushy and Dawick both sit amongst the current Top 10 point-scorers in the league, with Boushy comfortably in the eighth seat with 17 points (10 goals, seven assists), and Dawick in fourth place with his 21 points (10 goals, 11 assists).

Las Vegas Desert Dogs

From the East to the West Coast, Holden Cattoni now finds himself once again enjoying a Canadian summer in Peterborough as a Laker, reunited once again with his former Philadelphia teammates, Pace, Resetarits and Stouros, after his midseason acquisition by the Desert Dogs. As a Laker so far this season, Cattoni sits just below the Top Five point scorers in the Series, weighing in at 19 points (five goals, 14 assists) in just four games. He’s joined in Peterborough by Las Vegas defender Dylan Hutchison, who has also found success in the MSL with three confirmed points and a knack for scoring in transition.

Across the benches, several Desert Dogs are lining up to compete against their Peterborough-bound teammates. Forwards Jackson Webster and Sean Westley are suiting up for the Owen Sound North Stars and Brooklin LC, respectively, while goalkeeper Landon Kells finds himself in Oakville sharing the pipes with Toronto tendie Troy Holowchuck.
