2009 NLL Fantasy Challenge

The NLL Fantasy Challenge is free to play for the entire season. No purchase is necessary.

All players who register by the January 7th deadline will be placed into an eight-team fantasy league. Players can join a public league, or create their own private league to play against friends (this feature will be turned off on January 3rd so leagues can get filled completely).

The NLL Fantasy Draft will take place on or before Tuesday, January 7th. Each player must set their draft list in their team control panel if they will not be able to participate in their leagues live or extended-live draft. The draft will be done in a "snake" fashion. (1-8 first round, 8-1 second round, 1-8 3rd round, etc).

Each team's roster consists of 12 players: 10-11 runners (any forward, defenseman or transition player) and 1-2 goaltenders.

The fantasy regular season will run from Week 2 to Week 16 of the NLL regular season (no fantasy games week 1, or week 11 which is the All Star Game week). Every team will play 12 regular season games.

Fantasy weeks will be referred to by the real week number.

Four of the eight teams (Two division winners and two wild cards) in each league will advance to the playoffs. The semi-finals will be held in Week 15, and the league Championship will be held in Week 16.

The following scoring system will be used for every game (points are accumulated to the tenth of a point for each player):

Every 1 goal recorded by a runner: +1 point
Every 2 assists recorded by a runner: +1 point
Every 10 loose balls recorded by a runner: +1 point
Every 3 saves recorded by a goaltender: +1 point (Thirds are handled as: .3, .7, and 1)
Every 1 goal allowed by a goaltender: -1 point
Every 15 minutes played in a game by a goaltender: 1 point

Every "fantasy week", you must start 5 runners, and one goaltender. If a runner or goaltender has more than one game in a particular "fantasy week", you will have to choose which game you want points from. You can only play one game per "fantasy week" from a runner or goaltender.

Final game scores are determined by adding up the raw points (to the tenth) of the six starters for each team. Then the totals are rounded to the nearest whole number for a fantasy score. If the two teams are tied as a whole number, whomever was ahead in tenth's of a point is given an extra "winning team" point. If both teams were tied in tenth's of a point, then the game tiebreakers listed below are used and a "winning team" point is given to the winner. If a team scores less than 0 total points in a game, their fantasy score that week is 0.

No games may end in a tie. The following tiebreaker system will be used for every game, regular season and playoffs:

a. Most total team points (starters & bench)
b. Most points by top scorer on roster
c. Most points by 2nd highest team scorer on roster
d-l. Most points by 3rd-10th highest team scorer on roster
m. Coin Toss

The division winners and 2 wild card teams make the playoffs. Tie-breakers to determine playoff teams:

a. Head-to-head
b. Record in-division (for division winners)
c. Most Points For
d. Least Points Against
e. Coin Toss

The deadline for trades is before the beginning of Week 13 (Fantasy week 8) of the NLL regular season. The deadline to make free agent roster moves is before the beginning of Week 16 (Fantasy week 10) of the NLL season. Free agent drafts will be run weekly.
