35 Moments: Powell becomes first American to win MVP

Lacrosse legend, Casey Powell played sparingly throughout the first few years of his career after being drafted first overall by the Rochester Knighthawks in 1998. From 2004-2011, excluding 2006, he committed to playing in the NLL and made a huge impact. He made three All-Pro First Teams (2008-2010) and one Second Team appearance (2007). In 2010, he scored 44 goals (career high, 2nd in the NLL in 2010, over 25% of all team goals) and totaling 80 points in the one season of the Orlando Titans existence, earning him MVP honors. The next leading goal scorer for Orlando had 22 goals. Orlando would win their division, tied for the best record in the league, with stellar defense and goaltending. Powell is still the only American to win the MVP.
