35 Moments: Rhys Duch Gets Championship Redemption

Rhys Duch won a Championship in his second year, playing for the Washington Stealth in 2010. The Stealth would advance to the Championship game in three of four years (2010, 2011, 2013). In 2013, the Stealth were down by one goal (11-10) at home versus the Rochester Knighthawks with under 15 seconds remaining in the Championship game. The Stealth defense was able to cause a turnover and Duch was able to get a shot on Knighthawk goalie, Matt Vinc, with under three seconds remaining but was denied, giving the Knighthawks their second title in two years.

Fast forward to 2019, Duch now playing for the Calgary Roughnecks, made his first trip back to the Finals and only his second playoff appearance since 2013. The Roughnecks were playing against the Buffalo Bandits for the NLL Cup. Game 2 of the best of 3 series would go into overtime tied at 13. Just one minute into overtime, Duch received a pass from Riley Loewen and got a shot off against non-other than Bandits goalie, Matt Vinc, to win the game and the series for the Roughnecks to get his second NLL Championship win and the first for the Roughnecks in a decade.
