Big Offensive Performances Radiate The Weekend

Joe Resetarits Lights Up The Vegas Marquee

Six days after defeating the Las Vegas Desert Dogs 19-10 at Wells Fargo Center in South Philadelphia, the Wings again took down the now 0-4 Desert Dogs, this time walking away from Henderson, Nevada’s Lee’s Family Forum owners of a 15-9 triumph.

Joe Resetarits played out of his mind, scoring four goals and assisting on nine others. Mitch Jones was in the holiday spirit, handing out six helpers, to go along with one goal. Holden Cattoni secured a hat trick, with rookie phenom Brennan O’Neill adding two goals and two assists to his early Rookie of the Year campaign.

The Wings jumped out to a 3-0 lead, later allowing the Desert Dogs to reclaim a 5-4 advantage in the second. Philly posted four straight to end the first half, taking an 8-5 spread to the locker room and never remotely looking back at any point in the second half. A second, four-score streak solidified the easy six-goal victory.

This second of a home-and-home series turned quite chippy, as the teams combined for 92 penalty minutes amid a slew of unsportsmanlike conduct, fighting and dead ball fouls.

A Game Of Runs In Rochester

Rochester’s Blue Cross Arena was the locale for a thrilling back-and-forth battle between the hometown Knighthawks and visiting Saskatchewan Rush, with the fellas from Saskatoon escaping Western New York with a 14-12 win.

Rochester took a 5-4 lead into the halftime intermission. Coming out of the tunnel on a mission, the Rush reeled off five straight goals to begin the third stanza, eventually connecting on 9 of the second half’s first 11 goals. With Saskatchewan now the proud owners of a 13-7 separation, the high-scoring Knighthawks elected to make a game of it, uniting on five straight final-quarter blasts, turning a six-goal laugher into a one-goal nailbiter. With great drama, Matt Hossack scored on a vacated net, securing his club’s two-goal conquest.

Newly acquired Austin Shanks continues to make an impact for the Rush, producing four goals and helping on three more. Red-hot Zach Manns shined yet again, notching a hat trick, to go along with three assists.

The Rochester Ryan’s (Ryan Lanchbury and Ryan Smith) combined for six goals and five assists, while Connor Fields only found the net on one occasion, despite serving as a benefactor on four of his team’s scores.

Will Malcom Sends Socks Into The Colorado Sky

The Colorado Mammoth selected Will Malcom with the first pick of last summer’s Dispersal Draft. Four games into his new life on the front range of the Rocky Mountains, the 25-year-old forward appears to be settling in nothing short of beautifully, as Saturday’s 19-14 win over the Halifax Thunderbirds featured a Malcom game for the ages.

With nearly 9,000 fans bearing witness, Malcom posted an incredible seven goals and three assists, with his first four scores occurring in the first quarter of play. Connor Kelly added four blasts and three helpers, with Eli McLaughlin retaining a hat trick. Connor Robinson was also a big part of the festivities, aiding his buddies on seven of their scores.

This game of runs comprised of Mammoth five and four-goal bursts, along with a Thunderbirds three uninterrupted score display. Colorado maintained a five-score lead after 30 minutes, with the second-half tally never inching closer than three. This game very much belonged to the 2022 NLL champions.

Dawson Theede performed well in defeat, contributing three scores and four helpers to the Halifax cause. Jason Knox procured a hat trick, with Randy Staats and Clarke Petterson combining for a dazzling 14 assists.

Lyle Thompson Leads The Way In Swarm Road Win

The final contest of Week Four took place near the serene shores of the Pacific Ocean, with the hometown San Diego Seals welcoming the Georgia Swarm to Southern California. The lowest-scoring matchup of the weekend was decided over the second and third quarters when the Swarm constructed a stretch of five out of six goals, laying the groundwork for an impressive 11-8 conquest at Pechanga Arena.

The legendary Lyle Thompson came to play on Saturday, adding three goals and two assists to his sterling resume. University of Maryland alum Bryan Cole matched Thompson’s stat line, while Brendan Bomberry hit the San Diego night with a hat trick of his own.

San Diego’s trio of veteran arrivals continued their strong start to the season, as Ryan Benesch, Rob Hellyer and Ben McIntosh coalesced behind seven goals and four assists. The always-dynamic Wes Berg dispatched one score and three helpers in defeat.

Brett Dobson made his presence known between the pipes stopping 40 of the 48 shots aimed his direction.
