Knighthawks Host Toronto For Cradle For The Cure Game

The Rochester Knighthawks (3-11) are coming off an impressive 13-8 win on the road against the New England Black Wolves (7-7) in last Sunday’s matinee.

Heading into Week 17 action around the National Lacrosse League, the Knighthawks are set to faceoff in their Second Annual Cradle for the Cure Game when they host the Toronto Rock (9-5) at Connors & Ferris Field at The Blue Cross Arena on Saturday night at 7:30pm ET.

The Toronto Rock head into the matchup coming off a big 12-11 win over the Philadelphia Wings last Saturday, March 30, which clinched an East Division playoff berth to join the Buffalo Bandits and the Georgia Swarm in the chase for the NLL Cup. The Knighthawks are on the brink of elimination and must win this game to stay alive in the playoff hunt.

In their second and final matchup of the season, the Knighthawks are looking to tie the season series against the Rock. The Rock won 15-13 when the Knighthawks travelled to Toronto last month.

On Saturday, Rochester will be hosting their Second Annual Cradle for the Cure Game to benefit CURE Childhood Cancer Association. In collaboration with the Toronto Rock, both teams will be donning special uniforms with each player wearing the name of the person they are playing for on the back of their jersey.  The uniforms will be auctioned off to raise funds for the Association. The auction is running now through Saturday, April 6, at 9:30pm ET on knighthawks.com/auction.

“The Knighthawks are excited to continue our partnership with a great organization like CURE Childhood Cancer Association,” said Knighthawks VP of Sales, John Catalano. “This year we are especially thankful to the Toronto Rock, its owner, Jamie Dawick and the Rock players for participating in our Cradle for the Cure event.”

“We are excited to work together and support the Knighthawks and their Cradle for the Cure game,” said Rock Owner, President, and General Manager, Jamie Dawick. “As we saw at our team’s charity game last weekend, we know the fans in Toronto will also jump on board to support the cause and the fundraising efforts.”

The mission of CURE Childhood Cancer Association is to “improve the lives of children and their families coping with childhood cancer or chronic blood disorders by providing emotional, educational, social and financial assistance; promoting and funding research toward a cure.”

The Knighthawks are encouraging all fans both locally and across the country to join them in the battle against cancer, and to raise funds and awareness for this incredible organization by participating in the auction and events at the game. Throughout the evening, the Knighthawks will be hosting jersey auctions, selling cancer awareness themed apparel, and much more.

Faceoff at The Blue Cross Arena is set for 7:30pm ET and tickets can be purchased in person at the arena, via ticketmaster.com or by calling (585) 454-4295.
