Mammoth’S Grant, Jr. Named ‘Air Canada Wingman’ For Week 1

The National Lacrosse League has announced Colorado Mammoth forward John Grant, Jr. as the “Air Canada Wingman of the Week” award winner for Week 1 of the 2016 NLL season, which marks the league’s 30th anniversary year.

Grant, Jr. tied for the league lead with five assists in Week 1, including two helpers in the fourth quarter, and scored the game-winning goal in the final minute to finish with seven points (2+5) and help the Mammoth defeat the Georgia Swarm at home, 16-15.

The 16-year NLL veteran from Peterborough, Ontario ranks second all-time in NLL goals (638) and points (1,373) and fourth in assists (735). Before the start of the season, Grant, Jr. was named to the NLL 30th Anniversary Team ranked as the third-best player in league history.

Air Canada is the Official Airline Partner for the NLL. Each week, an NLL player will receive the “Air Canada Wingman of the Week” award based on their performance on the turf with respect to passing prowess and playmaking abilities. The weekly award winners will be entered into the pool of finalists for the “Air Canada Wingman of the Year” award at the end of the season.
