Nll Top 50 Players: #10 John Grant, Jr.

Colorado Mammoth forward among league’s elite in IL Indoor countdown

With the excitement for NLL Face Off Weekend 2015 presented by New Era on January 2-3 heating up, so too is IL Indoor’s countdown of the Top 50 Players in the National Lacrosse League. So who cracks the elite top 10 list? First up is none other than Colorado Mammoth forward John Grant, Jr. who continues to produce at a high level with highlight-reel goals and jaw-dropping plays game in and game out.

IL Indoor staffers Bob Chavez, Stephen Stamp and Marty O’Neill collaborated with their own Top 50 lists and a points system produced the final list. Click the link for the player to read their full analysis on Inside Lacrosse and check back to follow the countdown all the way to No. 1.

10) John Grant, Jr. – Colorado Mammoth

“Still the best outside shooter in the game, Grant is a threat to score any time he’s on the floor. He’s never scored fewer than 36 goals in a full season and four times has scored 50 or more. He’s so strong that you can’t really check him out of position and he’s so good with his stick that he can get off a good shot even if someone is draped all over him. Then, of course, there are the out-of-this-world passes that hit teammates in the mesh when it looks like there’s no possible way to get the ball to them. Even at 40 he’s as exciting a player to watch as there is.” – Stephen Stamp

“What can be said that hasn’t already been said about John Grant? Grant has won many championships and excels in the box and in the field game. Summer or winter, Grant is leading offenses to consistent point production and playoff appearances. JGjr’s stick skills are unmatched in the history of our sport. There are many that have had those type of hands but Junior has done it forever and a day it seems. Let’s see if those soft touches and laser shots can take the Mammoth a few steps further in 2015.” – Marty O’Neill

“Junior was the guy back in the day I’d tell newbs to the game to never take their eyes off of because you could always expect to see something fantastic. Here we are years later and I’m stil saying the same thing. The guy just keeps on scoring, and scoring with beauty and flair. He’s a great ambassador for the game as well, and it’d be nice to see him be rewarded with at least 1 more NLL ring for all the work he’s done for the game.” – Bob Chavez
