Roughnecks Sign Four Draft Picks & Free Agent, Re-Sign Mcfetridge

Calgary inks Roe, Henry, Gardner, Smistad, C. Jackson & eight-year vet

The Calgary Roughnecks have announced that the team has signed six players in preparation for the 2015 season, including all four draft picks from the 2014 NLL Draft.

The Roughnecks agreed to a three-year contract with Tyson Roe, selected 16th overall, and to one-year deals with Calgary natives Pat Henry (36th overall), Cam Gardner (45th overall) and Andrew Smistad (54th overall).  In addition, the club re-signed transition player Peter McFetridge to a two-year contract and signed free agent forward Casey Jackson to a one-year agreement.

McFetridge, a native of New Westminster, British Columbia, has spent his entire NLL playing career with the Roughnecks. The 28-year-old transition player has appeared in 69 games over the past seven seasons, recording 54 points (20 goals, 34 assists) along with 216 loose balls during that span.

Jackson, 24, recorded 56 goals and 75 points, including two seven-point performances, in 20 games as a freshman at the Rochester Institute of Technology. A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Jackson led the Burnaby Lakers of the WLA in assists (37) last season and finished the 2014 campaign with 54 points over 17 games played.

The 2015 NLL season, the 29th year of professional indoor lacrosse featuring the world’s best players, opens on Friday, Jan. 2. The Roughnecks host the Vancouver Stealth for their home opener at Scotiabank Saddledome on Saturday, Jan. 3.
