The San Diego Seals and Colorado Mammoth squared off Saturday night in Colorado for the second meeting of the year between these two teams. San Diego took game one of the series, 17-12, in week one at the Pepsi Center.
Austin Staats got things started with a goal just over three minutes into the game, his only goal of the night.
Just over one minute later, the Mammoth tied the game up at one on newcomer Cory Vitarelli’s first goal as a Mammoth.
The Seals then scored six of the next seven goals and eventually led 7-2. Below is Kyle Buchanan’s goal to give the Seals a 2-1 lead.
The Mammoth stopped the bleeding by scoring a goal of their own to cut the deficit to 4-2. The goal belonged to Eli McLaughlin.
San Diego then scored three straight goals, again. The below goal is credited to Casey Jackson, his second of two goals on the night.
Down 7-2, the Mammoth scored three of the first four goals of the second half to narrow their deficit to 8-5. Below is Kyle Killen’s goal to cut Colorado’s deficit to 7-3.
The Seals then scored two straight goals to take a 10-5 lead, with the below goal credited to Turner Evans, his only goal of the game.
The Mammoth then fired back with three straight goals to make the score 10-8. The goal below is the final goal of that three-goal stretch and belongs to Jeff Wittig.
San Diego’s Garrett Billings ended the skid with a goal with just over eight minutes left in the game to give the Seals an 11-8 lead.
Both teams traded goals the remainder of the game, with the final goal coming from Cam Holding to give the Seals the 13-9 win.
