The Georgia Swarm and Toronto Rock faced off Friday night in Georgia for the third time season. The Swarm took game one in Toronto, 12-11, while the Rock won game two, in Toronto as well, 14-9.
Just nine seconds into the game, Jordan MacIntosh took the faceoff and ran it down past Nick Rose for the first goal of the game.
Just 45 seconds later, Kieran McArdle scored off of a great pass from Brad Kri to even up the score at one.
That’s when the Swarm took control of the game. Georgia scored the next five goals in a row to take a 6-1 lead. They would never lead by less than four the remainder of the game.
Zed Williams cut back from the middle of the field and ripped one past Rose to give the Swarm a 2-1 lead. Adam Wiedemann, Randy Staats (two goals, his second below), and Shayne Jackson followed with goals for the Swarm.
Challen Rogers ended the skid for the Rock with a fast-break end to end goal to cut the Swarm’s lead to 6-2.
After both teams traded goals, Georgia scored five times in a row, and would end the game on a 6-1 run. The goals below, in order, belong to Randy Staats, Miles Thompson and Staats again, his fourth of five goals on the night.
Trailing 13-4, Brandon Slade punched one in for the Rock off a beautiful feed from Latrell Harris, followed by a late goal for Shayne Jackson.
Final score: Georgia Swarm 14, Toronto Rock 5.
