Week 3 StubHub Power Rankings

Week 2 of the NLL season may have only had two games, but each one was memorable in its own way. Warren Hill’s historic evening in Halifax led the Thunderbirds to a victory against Oshawa and Saskatchewan won by a single goal against Calgary after watching their lead slip away in the fourth. With only four teams in action, you wouldn’t think there would be much movement in the Power Rankings, but things can change on a dime in an 18-game season. Check it out.

On The Bubble: Calgary Roughnecks

Significant offseason changes reshaped Calgary’s identity. The Roughnecks had a slow start in their season opener against Saskatchewan. But like any team led by coach Josh Sanderson, they just went to work, chipping away at what was a 10-5 Rush lead at halftime. Third-quarter goals from Brayden Mayea and Haiden Dickson (2) brought Calgary back into the contest.  A four-goal run in the fourth quarter tied the game with 6:52 remaining as Tanner Cook scored a left-handed shot from the Right Wing. They couldn’t close it out, but the Roughnecks have to be satisfied with their effort in the second half, not to mention seven-point outings from Tyler Pace and Haiden Dickson. Calgary has a great opportunity to show it belongs in the contender conversation when the Roughnecks face Toronto in a StubHub NLL Faceoff. Watch Saturday at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN+, NLL+, and TSN+.

Oshawa at Halifax Dec 5, 2025

8) Oshawa FireWolves

Week 2 Result: Lost to Halifax 11-2
Week 3 Opponent: at Georgia (0-1)
Previous Ranking: 7th

After an exciting home opener win, the FireWolves traveled to Halifax. Oshawa, the only team to have now played two games, did things right defensively – they won the battles for shots (51-43), loose balls (68-64), blocked shots (8-3) and caused turnovers (14-3). Doug Jamieson only allowed eight goals against, which is where any team would like their goalie to be, but Warren Hill had a career night at the other end. The offence needs to get its groove back this weekend when it travels to face the Swarm in a StubHub NLL Faceoff. Watch at 7:30 PM ET on ESPN+, NLL+, and TSN+.

7) Colorado Mammoth

Week 2 Result: Idle
Week 3 Opponent: @ Philadelphia (0-0)
Previous Ranking: N/A

The Mammoth were the beneficiary of some action around them that sees them leapfrog their way into the Top 8 after their strong Week 1 win over Vancouver. Though idle this week, the Mammoth were cohesive in their first outing and set a confident tone for the rest of the season. On Saturday, they face Philadelphia at 1:00 PM ET. Fans can stream the game on ESPN+, NLL+, and TSN+.

San Diego at Ottawa Black Bears 11.29.25

6) San Diego Seals

Week 2 Result: Idle
Week 3 Opponent: vs. Rochester (0-0)
Previous Ranking: 6th

The Seals retain the six spot in anticipation of a matchup with Rochester. The two last met on March 29, with the Knighthawks taking a 14-13 win on Ryan Smith’s fifth goal of the game, scored with 11 seconds left. Wes Berg and Zach Currier had five-point games for the Seals and Tre Leclaire scored four goals. All three of those players had leading roles in San Diego’s Week 1 win over Ottawa, where they jumped out to a 6-0 lead right out the gate. Gaining and keeping momentum will be key for this squad when they go up against Rochester on Saturday in a StubHub NLL Faceoff at 5:00PM ET on ESPN2.

5) Rochester Knighthawks

Week 2 Result: Idle
Week 3 Opponent: at San Diego (1-0)
Previous Ranking: 4th

Reigning MVP Connor Fields and the Knighthawks have been on the sidelines for the last two weeks and will finally get their first taste of action this Sunday. A long road trip to San Diego kicks things off and is a good test for a club expected to contend for the title. Their defence is stout; goaltending is dynamic and their forwards can score in bunches. They’ve been inching forward every year, now with the addition of Zed Williams, not to mention new ownership in Seneca Nation, this could be the year the Knighthawks get to the top of the standings.

Colorado Mammoth at Vancouver Warriors @ Rogers Arena

4) Vancouver Warriors

Week 2 Result: Idle
Week 3 Opponent: vs. Las Vegas (0-0)
Previous Ranking: 3rd

Vancouver falls to fourth in the wake of Halifax’s dominant win. Vancouver is 0-1, but a season-opening loss can be forgiven with a roster this stacked. When new players are added into the mix, there’s naturally a period of adjustment, and the Warriors will be looking to build rhythm and momentum on offence moving forward. They return home this weekend to host Las Vegas in a StubHub NLL Faceoff at 10:00PM ET. The Desert Dogs acquired some big names and figure to be a very competitive team. If Vancouver hasn’t worked out its kinks, the team could be in for a tough matchup against the hungry Desert Dogs. Watch on ESPN+, NLL+, and TSN+.

3) Halifax Thunderbirds

Week 2 Result: Beat Oshawa 11-2
Week 3 Opponent: at Buffalo (1-0)
Previous Ranking: 5th

It didn’t take long for Warren Hill and the Thunderbirds to make a statement win this season. They treated their fans to 11-2 win over Oshawa and a historic home opener. Hill stopped 49 of 51 shots fired his way and didn’t allow a goal for the last 46:41 of play, an outstanding effort against an Oshawa team coming off the high of a home opener win. Halifax scored 10 straight goals, including three empty netters and they did it with swagger. With two new veteran players in their lineup (Brendan Bomberry and Ethan O’Connor), the Thunderbirds looked even more confident than they did last season. This week, Halifax travels to Buffalo to take on the Bandits this Saturday at 7:00 PM ET. Watch on ESPN+, NLL+, and TSN+.

2) Saskatchewan Rush

Week 2 Result: Beat Calgary 16-13
Week 3 Opponent: at Ottawa (0-1)
Previous Ranking: 2nd

Last year’s runners-up were impressive in their season opener, scoring 20 seconds into the game and building up a 10-5 halftime lead. Calgary was able to put some good offensive possessions together and tie the game in the fourth quarter, but Zach Manns closed it out with a goal from distance. Their offence was firing on all cylinders, supported by an active Mike Messenger, who put up an inspiring stat line with two goals, three assists, two blocked shots, nine loose balls and two caused turnovers, while taking 17 faceoffs. As a team, the Rush caused 13 turnovers compared to Calgary’s three. This week, Saskatchewan heads to Ottawa to face the Black Bears on Saturday at 7:30 PM ET for an NLL Friday Night on TSN matchup.

1) Buffalo Bandits

Week 2 Result: Idle
Week 3 Opponent: vs. Halifax (1-0)
Previous Ranking: 1st

After a tough win over Georgia in Week 1, their Week 2 break will have helped the Bandits prepare for another close contest against Halifax. Buffalo was an intimidating group in its opener, even with Mike Triolo and Thomas Whitty scratched and Kiel Matisz on the IR. Home floor advantage at KeyBank Center will be important against a Halifax team coming off a lopsided win, bolstered by their own fans. Watch Saturday at 7:00 PM ET on ESPN+, NLL+, and TSN+.
