In a battle between two of the top three teams in the East – and potentially the entire league – the Buffalo Bandits and Georgia Swarm faced off Saturday night at the Infinite Energy Arena in Georgia.
Buffalo started this game off hot with two goals in the first four minutes of play, and then another goal late in the first quarter to take a 3-0 lead.
Connor Sellars stopped the bleeding for Georgia with a fast break goal, and Georgia scored twice more – including Lyle Thompson’s fast break goal (pictured) – on top of another Buffalo goal to make the score 4-3.
Leading 4-3, the Bandits scored 10 of the next 11 goals, including seven in a row at one point to make the score 11-4 and put the game out reach. First, here’s one of Corey Small’s five goals on the night.
Later on in the run, Small scored again.
Up 16-7, Jordan Durston found the back of the net for Buffalo.
And one final one for the Bandits. Shawn Evans – the leading point scorer in the NLL – fired in a shot after a beautiful fake on an extra attacker. The goal was Evans’ fourth of the night.
Final score: Buffalo Bandits 19, Georgia Swarm 9.
