Weekend Warmup – Week Five

A busy Week Five across the NLL begins Friday night in Saskatchewan, and continues with four games on Saturday.

Saskatchewan will play its second home game in six days at the SaskTel Centre Friday night. The Rush dominated the Knighthawks at home last Saturday 16-8, and will look to build upon that success when the Vancouver Stealth come to Toon Town on Friday. After starting the season 2-0, the Stealth have lost consecutive games, including a 21-15 defeat in Buffalo last weekend. Faceoff is set for 8:30 P.M. EST.

After a bye week, the Toronto Rock welcome East Division rival Rochester to the Air Canada Centre Saturday night for a rematch of the NLL season opener on December 29th. The Rock are a perfect 2-0 so far this year, while the Knighthawks sit at 1-2. Both teams retooled their rosters after missing the post-season in 2016, and have seen positive signs of improvement early on this year. The action begins Saturday at 7 P.M. EST.

The New England Black Wolves will be the last NLL team to host its home opener Saturday night at Mohegan Sun Arena. After struggling to an 0-3 start, the Black Wolves hope getting back in front of their home crowd can jumpstart a turnaround. After dropping its first two contests, Buffalo returned to form last weekend, putting up 21 goals in a victory over Vancouver. New England and the Bandits faceoff at 7 P.M. EST.

Colorado won’t have to wait long to try and avenge its Week Four loss at home to the Roughnecks, as the Mammoth travel to Calgary for a rematch on Saturday. The Necks defeated Colorado in a shootout 14-12 last Friday at the Pepsi Center. The rematch gets underway at 9 P.M. EST.

The Stealth are back in action at home on Saturday, hosting the undefeated Georgia Swarm. It will be the second set of back-to-back games Vancouver has played this season. The Stealth won back-to-back games on the road to start the year. Two of the best offenses in the NLL square off at 10 P.M. EST.
