Bandits’ Smith Named ‘Air Canada Wingman’ For Week 4

The National Lacrosse League has announced Buffalo Bandits forward Dhane Smith as the “Air Canada Wingman of the Week” award winner for Week 4 of the 2016 NLL season.

Smith, who posted a league-high nine points (4+5) in Buffalo’s 12-6 home win over the Toronto Rock last Saturday, ranks fifth in the NLL this season in points (22), tied for fifth in goals (9) and sixth in assists (13). Smith has registered at least five points and three assists in all three games played in 2016.

The 23-year-old from Kitchener, Ont. was Buffalo’s first-round (5th overall) selection in the 2012 NLL Draft and was named to the 2013 NLL All-Rookie Team. The four-year veteran has scored over 20 goals in each of his first three seasons, highlighted by his 2015 campaign where he recorded 107 points (39+68).

Air Canada is the Official Airline Partner for the NLL. Each week, an NLL player will receive the “Air Canada Wingman of the Week” award based on their performance on the turf with respect to passing prowess and playmaking abilities. The weekly award winners will be entered into the pool of finalists for the “Air Canada Wingman of the Year” award at the end of the season.
