Commissioner Sakiewicz Named Mission Speaker for Annual LLS Executive Breakfast

The National Lacrosse League (NLL), the largest men’s professional indoor lacrosse league in North America, today announces that Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz will be the mission speaker during The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Executive Breakfast this morning.

A survivor of leukemia himself, Commissioner Sakiewicz will be sharing his story to an audience of executive peers in the greater Philadelphia area. This offers a great opportunity to speak about the costs of cancer in the workplace and life in general through his own experiences, while also sharing guidance on how we can help LLS make a lasting and sustainable impact in cancer research and patient support services.

“I am honored to speak at this year’s Leukemia & Lymphoma Society Executive Breakfast and help aid the efforts of bringing awareness to blood cancer”, said NLL Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz. “I hope speaking on my own personal experiences helps those touched by cancer and shares the importance and goodwill LLS brings to people like those who supported me through my journey.  I believe we are within reach of a cure and must overcome the challenges to once and for all cure these diseases.”

Frank Mattei, Office Managing Partner of KPMG and the 2018 Greater Philadelphia Light The Night Walk Chair, and LLS will host the Executive Breakfast to discuss the impact of cancer in the workplace and our power against it. In other efforts by LLS, Light The Night funds treatments that are saving the lives of patients today.

“Our research continues to help millions of people affected by cancer,” said Ellen Rubesin, Executive Director of the Eastern PA Chapter. “In 2017, the FDA approved 18 new drugs for the treatment of blood cancer, and LLS played a role in the development of 15 of these.  We’re extremely excited about the accelerated pace of research.”
