Dan Carey Joins Mammoth Front Office Staff

Beloved former Colorado Mammoth forward Dan Carey has joined the team’s front office, the organization announced on Tuesday. Carey, the recipient of the NLL’s 2008 Sportsmanship Award, assumes the role of Director of Player Personnel.

“Dan was a tremendous player and a true leader during his playing days,” said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. “It was unfortunate that his career was cut short due to injury. We welcome him back with open arms and look forward to his wealth of knowledge about the game.”

Carey was the Mammoth’s first-round selection (seventh overall) in the 2005 NLL Entry Draft. He was named an all-star in each of his first three seasons in the league, and as a rookie, was instrumental in Colorado winning the Champion’s Cup. In 60 career regular-season games in burgundy, silver and black, the Ontario native scored 89 goals and assisted on 147 others.

In his new role with the Mammoth, Carey will oversee all collegiate, club and professional scouting activities and operations, and work closely with the coaching staff and team management to address the team’s greatest on-field needs.

“I look forward to rejoining the Mammoth family,” said Carey. “When Steve Govett presented me with the possibility of working with the Mammoth in a full-time role, it was an easy decision. It allows me to continue to work in a sport that I’m passionate about, and with a first-class organization that I have always cared about. I look forward to contributing to this organization’s overall goal of winning championships.”

The Mammoth opens the 2016 season at home on HealthONE Field at Pepsi Center on New Year’s Day against the Georgia Swarm at 7:30pm MT. Season ticket memberships, which start at just $80, are on sale now.
