The National Lacrosse League has issued a summary of discipline following an official review of Week 5 games occurring on January 30-31.
Buffalo Bandits defenseman Nick Weiss has been assessed a two-game suspension for an illegal cross checking incident on Rochester Knighthawks forward Joel Matthews at approximately the 0:42 mark of the second quarter during their game on Saturday, Jan. 31. No call was made on the field, but upon league review, Weiss was assessed a Match Penalty for violation of Illegal Cross Checking (Rule 63.3), which carries an automatic two-game suspension (Rule 41.2).
In other league discipline news, Colorado Mammoth transition player Joey Cupido (Roughing – Rule 85.5) and Vancouver Stealth transition player Tyler Hass (Two Majors in One Game – Rule 38.2) were assessed Game Misconduct penalties for incidents on Saturday, Jan. 31 while the Instigator Game Misconduct to Colorado Mammoth forward Sean Pollock was rescinded.
