Knighthawks Will Host Swarm On Dec. 6 To Open Nll Preseason For 2015

Minnesota to visit 3-time defending champs Rochester at Blue Cross Arena

The Rochester Knighthawks will host the Minnesota Swarm at The Blue Cross Arena on Saturday, Dec. 6 at 8 p.m. ET to help open the National Lacrosse League preseason for 2015. The exhibition game will mark Rochester’s first contest since they made NLL history this past May by winning their third-straight Champion’s Cup title.

The preseason opener has become a holiday tradition for the two teams as Rochester has hosted Minnesota for the past three years.

“Welcoming Minnesota to Rochester as our opponent for a preseason exhibition game officially kicks off the 2015 season for the Knighthawks,” said Knighthawks president Lewis Staats. “Both the Knighthawks and Swarm look forward to what has become an annual event. It gives both teams a chance to let their players, and especially their rookies, play in a game-like atmosphere at The Blue Cross Arena.”

Last December, over 10,000 fans at the BCA saw the Swarm edge the Knighthawks in a back-and-forth 16-15 thriller on a last-second goal. Both teams will again be ready to go this time around as will the Rochester faithful who helped the Knighthawks to an impressive 12-1 record at home in 2014.

“As usual, we expect a big crowd, and we know our passionate Knighthawks fans are just as anxious as we are to get back on the turf and get the 2015 season underway,” Staats said.

Fans who wish to attend the Swarm at Knighthawks exhibition must reserve their free tickets prior to the game by calling the Knighthawks Office at (585) 454-4295. Also on December 6th, fans can begin to purchase individual tickets for the 2015 season at The Blue Cross Arena Box Office.

There is a lot of excitement surrounding the upcoming season after the team brought back veteran transition man Jordan Hall and selected high-scoring forward Jeremy Noble with the second overall pick in the 2014 NLL Draft.

The Swarm and the rest of the league will get a look at Miles Thompson, the third overall draft pick from 2014, who is expected to make an immediate impact on the Minnesota attack alongside 2014 NLL Transition Player of the Year Jordan MacIntosh, Rookie of the Year Logan Schuss and Callum Crawford.

The Knighthawks will open their 21st season in history on Saturday, Jan. 3 against their East Division rival Toronto Rock at The Blue Cross Arena at 7:30 p.m. ET. Prior to the regular season opener, the Knighthawks will celebrate their latest NLL Championship by raising their 2014 Championship Banner.

The Swarm also open up their 2015 NLL season on Saturday, Jan. 3 by hosting the Colorado Mammoth at Xcel Energy Center at 8 p.m. ET.

The 2015 NLL regular season opens the night before on Friday, Jan. 2 with the New England Black Wolves hosting the Buffalo Bandits at Mohegan Sun Arena. For the entire regular season schedule, click here.
