Second Annual Jr. Nll Tournament Set For Aug. 29-31 At Trac

21 youth clubs representing NLL teams to compete across three divisions The National Lacrosse League has announced the second annual Junior NLL Tournament, which features 21 youth teams representing eight NLL franchises, will return to Toronto Rock Athletic Centre (TRAC) in Oakville, Ontario from Aug. 29-31.

This year’s tournament, again hosted by the Toronto Rock, has grown significantly with the addition of Midget competition to the Peewee and Bantam divisions that battled for supremacy a year ago.

“Last year, we broke ground with the inaugural event,” said Rock owner and president Jamie Dawick. “It was a great first year, but this year’s event is bigger and better. We are excited to add more teams, more competition and more NLL cities.”

In addition to the Rock, the Buffalo Bandits, Colorado Mammoth, Edmonton Rush, Minnesota Swarm, Rochester Knighthawks and Vancouver Stealth, along with the Jr. Wings, will be represented across Peewee, Bantam & Midget teams in the competition. The teams will follow NLL playing rules in a family-friendly environment with plenty of NLL players, coaches and staff expected to be in attendance.

Fans will be able to watch select games from the tournament live online at webcastsports.net, courtesy of JVI Video Production. A full broadcast schedule will be released prior to the Labor Day weekend event. The TRAC will also play host to the 2014 NLL Draft on Monday, Sept. 22 along with the Combine from Sept. 20-21 and Season Awards Ceremony on Sunday, Sept. 21.

The TRAC, which also serves as the Rock’s offices and training facilities, has hosted several league events and NLL preseason games over the past two years and remains as a hub for indoor lacrosse for players of all ages and skill levels.
