6th Annual JR NLL Tournament Set for August 24-26

The National Lacrosse League (NLL), the largest men’s professional indoor lacrosse league in North America, today announces the schedule for its 6th Annual Jr. NLL Tournament, a weekend-long competition featuring youth clubs representing NLL teams in both the U.S. and Canada. Teams from three divisions will compete at the Toronto Rock Athletic Centre and Glen Abbey Community Centre in Oakville, Ontario from Friday, August 24 to Sunday August 26.

Junior clubs for the Buffalo Bandits, Calgary Roughnecks, Colorado Mammoth, Georgia Swarm, New England Black Wolves, Rochester Knighthawks, Saskatchewan Rush, Toronto Rock and Vancouver Stealth, along with Junior Edmonton, will compete with players participating across Peewee, Bantam and Midget age levels.

“The Rock have been tremendous hosts of the Jr NLL tournament since its inception 5 years ago,” said Commissioner Nick Sakiewicz. “It is exciting to see the growth of box lacrosse, especially in each of our current markets. It is truly a testament to our teams and their work at the grassroots level in the community.”

Players, coaches and staff from the NLL will take part in the weekend, which will kick off with an opening ceremony and skills competition on Friday, August 24th.

“This tournament is special for so many reasons,” said Rock Owner, President and GM Jamie Dawick.  “We are growing the game in markets across Canada and the U.S. through the Jr. NLL Tournament teams and having youth players coached by the best lacrosse players in the world.  Very soon, we are going to see players that have participated in this event playing in the NLL right alongside the very same players they have looked up to as mentors at the Jr. NLL Tournament.”
