Separated by a mere 130 kilometres on the map (80 miles), the Toronto Rock and Oshawa FireWolves represent one of the league’s closest geographical spectacles. This weekend, the Rock welcomed their Battle of the 401 counterparts to TD Coliseum, but the hospitality ended there, as they sent the FireWolves home with their fourth consecutive loss. The Rock possessed a comfortable 11-5 fourth quarter lead, only to watch in horror as the visitors reeled off five straight scores (three consecutive from Dawson Theede), bringing them within a goal at 11-10. With the momentum clearly on the Oshawa side of the equation, Challen Rogers located the empty net with 44 seconds remaining (after having a goal called back a few minutes earlier) to seal the 12-10 win.
