Panther City Lacrosse Club to cease operations effective immediately

Player dispersal draft set for Monday. League will continue investing in youth lacrosse locally, adding Dallas to its NLL UnBOXed™ initiative
Philadelphia (August 30, 2024) – The National Lacrosse League (NLL) today
announced that its Panther City Lacrosse Club franchise will cease all operations
effective immediately. Players under contract will be included in a dispersal draft
among the 14 remaining NLL teams on Monday at 11am ET before the free agency
period begins an hour later at 12pm ET.

“We have worked tirelessly to resolve a complex situation, but this untimely
withdrawal of Panther City’s membership placed the league in an unprecedented
situation,” said NLL Commissioner Brett Frood.“We’ll move forward with fortitude
and confidence, building off our record league attendance last year and
the positive momentum generated from our 37th season.

In parallel, we will continue our dialogue with prospective ownership groups who
believe in the NLL’s vision andgrowth potential as we strive
to become ‘The Next Major League’ in North America.”

While the franchise may no longer exist, the NLL will continue to invest in youth
lacrosse participation throughout the Dallas metropolitan area via its new NLL
UnBOXed™ Lacrosse Communities grassroots initiative.

The NLL UnBOXed Dallas OilCats will immediately join the first wave of NLL UnBOXed
activation markets, including the Baltimore Ghost Crabs™, Charlotte Cobras™,
Minnesota Lake Dragons™, Montréal Castors™, Seattle Shipwrecks™, St. Louis
Howlers™, Tampa Bay Snowbirds™ presented by Tampa General Hospital, and Utah
Spikes™.

The initial round of opt-in participating schools in these inaugural markets will be
announced next week. The second wave of NLL UnBOXed Lacrosse Communities will
be unveiled in October as the NLL continues to expand its multi-national footprint to
include approximately 60 North American communities by the time NLL-style sixes
lacrosse returns to the 2028 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.
